Narrative Space, Audio Editing Project, Unity Game
Solo Project
Sent from an incomprehensibly distant galaxy, your job as an official historian of the #@%$@^$% empire is to explore the wreckage of an ancient battlefield on planet 42SMC, and unravel the mystery behind the fall of this mysterious civilization. Listen to as many recovered audio files as you can before the wormhole closes, and find out for yourself what really happened in the final hours of planet 42SMC.
Aftermath focuses on using audio clips and text as a form of spacial storytelling. The player is tasked with exploring the ruins of an ancient battlefield to relive the downfall of a lost civilization. Throughout the ruins, audio "files" are scattered, which play sounds and fragments that with the text, allow the player to piece together the narrative.
To create the game, I used Unity's in-engine terrain editor to create a landscape, and then populated that landscape with pre-made assets, each positioned intentionally with a sort of story in mind as to how it got there. I created interactable objects to scatter around the game world, each with one an audio clip that I created from a variety of sound effects and a bit of storytelling text.
I also coded a "tracking" system that would use audio cues to help the player find nearby objects, and a timer system to create a sense of urgency, and to ensure that every player has a slightly different experience.
